M31 is a producer and dj in the utah electronic music scene

It might seem that growing up and living in Utah, so far outside the electronic music scene (in more ways than one), would present hefty obstacles for producer M31 (Kyle Tippetts). But he’s been involved in the scene since 1997, back then as a listener, and now as a producer.

“Music is and always has been an obsession for me, in a good way. I discovered early in my life that it has such power to influence and to change lives. And I’ve always felt like I really wanted to share with others what has affected me so deeply.”

That’s true for his latest single Preludium & Chocolat Mousse, a re-spray of Mannheim Steamroller’s Prelude and Chocolate Fudge from their Fresh Aire I album.

“These two pieces of music are really what started my love of music, both from a writing and performing perspective. I was obsessed with learning how to play these, and because of this I really wanted to play them for other people. To that end, I was motivated, despite much scoffing from my peers, to form a Fresh Aire cover band. Prelude and Chocolate Fudge were the first two songs we performed.”

Preludium & Chocolat Mousse is a modern EDM-influenced take on these fabulous tracks from Mannheim Steamroller’s first album.

Previous releases include two EPs, M-Theory: Doctor Who and M-Theory: Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, part of M31’s M-Theory project. The project is a tribute to great science fiction television, film, and literature. These two EPs are inspired by the reboot of the British sci-fi television series Doctor Who, and Douglas Adams’ hilarious Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy book series.

M31 has crafted these EPs as a singular musical experience from EDM-influenced beats and soundscapes, rooted within traditional rock and classical song structures.
